Jane's Pocket Change: Trusted People

We recently held our final board meeting of the school year. This group of parents of graduates, parents of current students, alumni and alumnae, student, faculty and parent association representatives meets five times a year to further the mission of our school.
We recently held our final board meeting of the school year. This group of parents of graduates, parents of current students, alumni and alumnae, student, faculty and parent association representatives meets five times a year to further the mission of our school.

It is a devoted, thoughtful, talented and creative cadre, always placing CSW and its students first.

Our meeting last week began with a field trip to the health and fitness building site (see pictures). In that beautiful sunshine, amidst the construction dust I felt the pride that these men and women took in their work. Each of them has donated to the early stages of the campaign and many of them continue to give in monthly meetings and one-on-one conversations as they highlight the purpose of the building and how it completes the circle of our community.

During the meeting our outgoing student trustees (Noa Machover ’15 and James Garcia ’15) led a student panel the topic of which was community spaces on campus and how the new building would add to that space. There was a deep back-and-forth between the trustees and the students—each wanting to know more about the other. It was a powerful moment of CSW’s values in action.

We said goodbye to several trustees last week—James, Noa, Deborah Kahn P '16, Shelley Hawks P'12, Bob Metcalf ‘53, Mark Santa Maria and Sheila Watson P'12, 17, 19. And we welcomed a wonderful new crop who will begin their work in September. My thanks to these folks who volunteer at the highest level for our school and its well being.
