College Counseling

The Cambridge School of Weston approaches college counseling as a partnership between the student, counselor and parents. We believe the focus of the college application process should be encouraging students to engage in self-discovery in order to select excellent post-secondary opportunities. Choosing the right college match is a serious undertaking, and each student is supported by a dedicated staff of college counselors. We tailor our approach to an individual's needs.

While we invite inquiries and discussion at any time, students typically begin to develop a relationship with our College Counseling Office when they take the PSAT in the fall of the junior year. Students are then matched with a counselor in the winter of that year. We encourage students to meet frequently with their counselor to explore their many options, plan college tours, discuss standardized testing and review other aspects of the application process. Nearly 100 percent of our graduates pursue higher education, entering four-year liberal arts institutions, programs in business or engineering and colleges of art or music. A few students take a “gap year” between high school and college to travel, work or participate in special apprenticeships or volunteer programs; however, we encourage all seniors to apply to colleges while they are enrolled at CSW.

CSW graduates enroll in a diverse range of colleges and universities, where they are known for their intellectual curiosity, creativity, initiative and community involvement. Our college placement record reflects our commitment to helping our students find environments where they will be challenged and where they will thrive.
