Academic Departments

The academic program at CSW provides dynamic and integrated learning experiences focused on helping students develop critical and creative thinking skills. This is, we believe, the best training we can give our students to prepare for the challenges ahead. We do not emphasize memorization or rote learning. We do develop higher skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation.

Recognizing individual strengths and multiple intelligences, we downplay competition and comparison. We do not rank our students, nor do we emphasize awards. Our pedagogical practices, supported by our Module System, seek to honor our diversity of opinion, expression, talents and background. Through our wide range of courses and variety of teaching styles, we offer students the opportunity to discover who they are as learners, innovators and thinkers, both within the classroom and out in the world.

To augment student success throughout the year, students and parents receive individualized teacher comments along with grade reports following every module. Also, a student's advisor comments in writing on a student's progress and overall performance two times per year.
