The history program at CSW is designed to teach students how to be curious, thoughtful and purposeful historians. Through research and intensive analysis, students develop an understanding of how historical events are shaped and how decisions influence the present day.
Students are expected to recognize names and dates, but always in a context and with a purpose. They are encouraged to master primary sources, dig for clues and use this evidence to formulate their own conclusions as to what happened during significant historical events and eras.
Nearly all CSW history courses focus on a theme, which allows students to make connections between the intellectual, political and social forces governing a particular time period.
