Foreign Languages

The foreign language program, which offers instruction in Spanish, French and Latin, inspires students' enthusiasm and desire to learn a language by providing an extensive variety of interactive experiences. In addition, opportunities to travel abroad are available each year.

Students develop communication skills in all four language areas: speaking, listening, reading and writing. Among the wide range of activities incorporated in the classroom are conversations, skits, films, music, artwork, literature readings, newspaper articles, creative writing, research projects, games, Internet exercises, multimedia lessons and field trips. Through these activites, the program encourages students' motivation to learn about language as a vehicle to understand other cultures.

In addition to experiences in the classroom, students have the opportunity to practice their language skills in a state-of-the-art computer laboratory. Every year, students have the chance to immerse themselves in the culture and language of other countries. Trips abroad have included France and Montreal, Rome and Naples, and Costa Rica and Guatemala.
