The CSW science program fosters a genuine interest in the sciences by encouraging students to undertake authentic research - designing experiments, formulating theories and testing ideas.
Students study scientific disciplines in depth, while also examining connections between science and other subjects through integrated studies. Students must take courses in both biological and physical sciences and are offered multiple opportunities for hands-on, experiential learning off campus. These include marine biology research at Woods Hole on Cape Cod and rain forest field study in Costa Rica.
As a result, students not only gain knowledge of prevailing scientific concepts and how they relate to the larger society, but also achieve a firm understanding of the process of science, as well as the rigors and joys of scientific research.
