Students who show exceptional responsibility, intiative and planning have the opportunity to propose and carry out independent study projects throughout the year. Students must submit a written proposal to the academic office signed by both the student's advisor and the teacher of the independent study. The proposal must be approved at least one module before it is to take place.
Some examples of completed independent study projects include: a study of String Theory, a chemistry/art project using Medieval chemistry methods for creating paint, and a computer internship to program a training simulator for the Navy.
