The Cambridge School of Weston

Students

I Chose CSW Because ...

"…when I came for my tour, I wasn't even into the first building before I knew "this was my school." I was originally looking at the school because I was interested in the module system, had heard of the great theatre program, and wanted to explore an innovative school, but all that went straight out of my head as soon as I visited the campus. I just had this feeling, vibe, sense—call it whatever you want. 'This is home,' it said. This is home."
- Emma, 10th grade (Concord, Mass.)

"…I felt that at CSW I could not only be who I am, but also discover what else I could be."
- Sarang, 11th grade (Sherborn, Mass.)

"…The students are fun and accepting and the teachers have passion [for] what they teach."
- Madison, 10th grade (Boston and Lincoln, Mass.)

"…I felt that the arts were more incorporated into regular learning, the teaching was more hands-on and creative, and the school had strong values in the right places like leadership, community and creativity."
- Olivia, 9th grade (Sherborn, Mass.)

"…you can reach as high as you want. No one here will try to pull you down, and everyone will try to help you up. I have not been limited in my studies here by my grade, or even by the course offerings. Whatever I want to study, even if there is no teacher who teaches the material, I know that CSW will find a way to encourage me to pursue it. I'm a junior, and I'm learning basic quantum mechanics, in an independent study with a friend. It's an awesome experience, and something that I would never be able to do anywhere else."
- Sam, 11th grade (Cambridge, Mass.)

"…it seemed so friendly! Everyone knew each other and everyone was so nice. The classes were small and everyone seemed to be having fun."
- Nina, 11th grade (Cambridge, Mass.)

"…for many reasons:

a) The mod system: I love the module system because you get to take so many different courses that you wouldn't be able to take with semesters or trimesters, and you never have a chance to get tired of a class because it only last five weeks.

b) The art: The Cambridge School of Weston was the only school I looked at that had really fantastic art programs. From visual arts to dance and theater, there's really a lot to choose from. CSW has every type of visual art imaginable—sculpture, drawing, photography, digital photography, painting and many more.

c) The atmosphere: It's so much less formal and uptight than other schools. We call our teachers by their first names, there's no dress code and we have fun in ways most school don't."
- Sara, 11th grade (Sudbury, Mass.)

"…of the course options, learning-encouraging community, the relaxed atmosphere, the diverse community and the nice, relatable and 'chill' teachers."
- Hannah, 9th grade (Franklin, Mass.)

"…I felt that it was a place that I could grow into someone I wanted to be. Also, since there is such a range of things to do, I felt that I could be a well-rounded person."
- Lara, 10th grade (Cambridge, Mass.)

"…it has a great theatre and English department. In the theatre department, I've been taking on roles that I normally wouldn't do. As an artist, I've really been challenged. I truly have a better understanding of all the work required to do serious theatre."
- Celina, 9th grade (New Haven, Conn.)

"…it is a school that's different—it thinks differently, it works differently, and most importantly, the students are different."
- Kabren, 12th grade (Newton, Mass.)

"…my brother went there before me. I transferred for my sophomore year. I remember one day before I applied I was making fun of him because I had a snow day and he didn't, and he said he didn't care because he liked school. That was crazy to me so I decided to look at what I needed to do in order to like school, which ended up being switching to CSW."
- Katie, 12th grade (Wellesley, Mass.)
