Girls Varsity Basketball Wins Gryphon Goblet Tournament

This past weekend was CSW's 2nd Annual Gryphon Goblet Basketball Tournament. CSW hosted both girls and boys varsity teams from The Commonwealth School, The Newman School, and The British International School of Boston.

After two semifinal games on Thursday featuring visiting teams, Friday night was a double header for our varsity teams and the stands were packed! The girls played first against BISB and were able to win earning themselves a place in the championship game! The boys also faced off against BISB and it was a hard fought game all the way to the finish. In the end, BISB squeaked out a two point victory sending our Gryphon's into the consolation game.
On Saturday, the day began with the girls consolation game. The Commonwealth School held off BISB in a closely contested match to finish in third place. Next, our girls team matched up against a tough Newman team in the finals. After a tight battle for three quarters, our Gryphon's were able to hold them off and secure the goblet, winning the girls tournament !

As the boys tournament continued on Saturday, CSW's boys varsity team bounced back from their tough loss against BISB on Friday and won against The Commonwealth School to secure a third place finish. For the final game of the day, BISB faced Newman in the boys final. BISB was able to fight back in the closing minutes to secure the victory and take home the goblet, winning the boys tournament. CSW Athletics is already looking forward to next year's Gryphon Goblet and planning ways to grow and improve the event. Thank you to all who volunteered to make this year's Gryphon Goblet a success!
