On Saturday, April 27th, several members of the CSW community gathered in the Garthwaite Center for Science and Art’s Community Gallery for the third annual Changing Lives with Art Auction.
Attendees enjoyed a lively evening of bidding for fine art, elegant food and drink, and live entertainment. The auction featured hundreds of artists and more than 150 pieces of art, in a wide variety of mediums and price ranges. In addition to a silent auction, the evening also featured a live auction of jury-selected works with Newbery Medal-winning author and current CSW parent Jack Gantos P’15 serving as the evening’s vibrant auctioneer.
Head of School Jane Moulding remarked, “Not only does Jack have an amazing grasp of the artists being auctioned, but he has an equal ability to keep us all laughing and in great spirits – all while focusing on the true purpose of why generosity is an important value here at CSW.”
The results of the event were recently tallied and we are proud to announce that we exceeded all goals by raising more than $179,000, attracting a record 235 supporters, and exhibiting more than 145 artists and collectors who shared their work, talent, and expertise with us.
“We are still glowing in the success of the evening,” noted Jane. “None of this would have been possible without the special leadership of a loyal group of parent volunteers: event co-chairs Margie Perse P’13, a parent and trustee, and Lise Gordon P'14 P’16, along their wonderful event committee, Bonnie Alexander P'10 P'12 P’14, Susan Brokaw P’14, Anne Lower P’15 and Anne Maggioncalda P’16. In addition, the alumni artists present provided a special creative energy and I add thanks to alumni co-chairs Ethan Cohen '79 and Niho Kozuru '86.”
A big thanks to everyone who made the night such a huge success!
