This year over 40,000 people walked in Project Bread’s 44th annual Walk for Hunger and raised 43.6 million. Mei Swartz ’12, of the Cambridge School of Weston Community Service Club, organized a CSW group to participate this year. Over thirty students from CSW took part in this year’s Walk for Hunger raising $5,288, about $800 more than last year! The money CSW students raised will help hungry people at more than 450 food pantries, soup kitchens, food banks, and food salvage programs in 129 communities across Massachusetts.

This is Mei’s second year organizing a CSW walking group, though groups from CSW have participated in the Walk for Hunger for years. “I love being a part of a community of people who are all coming together for one cause,” says Mei. “It makes me happy to see people from all walks of life connecting with a similar goal. Everyone is cheering everyone else on! I believe food is a basic human right…and that it is my social responsibility to try and help.”
