Introduction

CSW's progressive and intensive academic program challenges students to be inquisitive, innovative and proactive learners. Classes emphasize substantive exchange and debate as students are encouraged to think for themselves, ask questions and go beyond obvious answers. This is, we believe, the best training we can give our students to develop higher skills of analysis, synthesis and evaluation and prepare for the challenges ahead.

The Module System, a cornerstone of the school's academic approach for 30 years, affords students the time and flexiblity to dive into subjects in depth and to explore connections between disciplines. Students are inspired to take intellectual and creative risks through a rich variety of 300 course offerings, and to pursue both artistic and academic studies with equal passion and discipline.

The CSW Course Catalogue describes CSW's courses and requirements. The master schedule, indicating when specific courses are taught during the year, is published separately and can be obtained from from the Academic Office. Some of the courses in the catalogue may not be offered if there are changes in scheduling or teaching personnel, and new courses may be added as the school year progresses.

To augment student success throughout the year, students and parents receive individualized teacher comments along with grade reports following every module. Also, a student's advisor comments in writing on a student's progress and overall performance two times per year.
