Please Note: All courses will require a minimum of four students to run. Families will be informed by May 15 if we are unable to run a particular course.
Math Courses
Math Enrichment
Grades 7-8
Mini Module Session 1 (July 8 - July 26, 2024)
This course is designed to enhance mathematical understanding and creativity at the middle school level. Throughout the class, students will utilize and strengthen numeracy and reasoning skills to engage in a wide range of mathematical challenges. Possible activities include logic puzzles, writing and solving real-world problems, representing mathematical ideas with models, and research opportunities.
Mini Module Session 1 (July 8 - July 26, 2024)

Advanced Algebra Review
Grades 9-12
Mini Module Session 2 (July 28 - August 16, 2024)
This course is designed to strengthen students’ confidence with topics in algebra in order to support their learning in future precalculus courses and beyond. The course includes reinforcement and rediscovery of algebraic skills for future math learning. Skills and topics emphasized include graphing and visual representations, real-world problem solving, manipulation of abstract quantities and variables, and creating connections between mathematical structures and concepts. This course is ideal for students looking to strengthen their skills in algebra 2 before moving on to precalculus courses, as well as students interested in advancing their skills and knowledge base before formally enrolling in algebra 2. Each student will receive individualized guidance and support to reach the next level.

Writing Poetry
Grades 9-12
Mini Module Session 1 (July 8 - July 26, 2024)
This course is designed to introduce students to poetry, and to provide the foundational skills needed to read, write, and understand poetry, as well as to be active participants in a community of writers. Poetry’s attention to and play with language are what distinguish it from other literary genres. In this class, therefore, students are expected to develop a facility and versatility with use of language to tell their stories in lyric and associative mode. This is also a workshop class, meaning that students will give and receive feedback about their writing. Students will closely read poems every day. They will also develop a vocabulary to discuss poetry. In addition, they will compose five to six poems that will be revised over the mod, collect their creative work into a portfolio, and read and discuss a full book of poetry.
