Contemporary Art Loan Program

Established in 2009, our Contemporary Art Loan Program (CALP) offers members of the CSW community the opportunity to borrow original pieces of contemporary art by professional artists for an entire academic year.

Over several years, CSW alumnus and gallery owner Zach Feuer '96 donated over 200 original pieces from his collection, worth more than $300,000, in hopes of giving the CSW community a chance to live and enjoy works of original pieces of contemporary art in the spaces where people live, work, and study.

Students, parents, faculty, and staff can borrow art, for up to a year, to display in their dorm rooms, homes, classrooms, or offices. The works range from oil on canvas to watercolor, from photography to lithographs, and include works by renowned artists, including photographer Cindy Sherman and landscape artist Peter Allen Hoffman.

At the beginning of each academic year, the collection is hung for the community to view and receive pieces lottery-style for the academic year.  The program has grown in popularity and has become an anticipated event among students and adults.

Breaking Down Barriers

"When you live with art, exclusive from a museum or exhibition space, it helps to break down the barriers. In the end, I hope more students walk away feeling contemporary art is accessible."
