Last Saturday, a group of students led by club Sociedad Latinx went on a trip to Costco in Waltham to purchase supplies to ship to Puerto Rico and those affected by Hurricane Maria. Items purchased included non-perishable foods, personal hygiene products, baby supplies and more.

More than just a shopping trip, the intent behind the effort was to help the people of Puerto Rico heal and get back on their feet in the wake of crippling devastation to the island and its infrastructure. Sadly, a number of CSW community members and their families have been personally impacted by the disaster in Puerto Rico, making the deed especially meaningful for those involved.

Sociedad Latinx will continue their weekly runs to Costco every Saturday at 1:00 p.m., leaving from the Kluchman traffic circle. Others are welcome and encouraged to get involved. Ways to help include, providing transportation to and from Costco, donating items of need, or donating funds for purchasing additional goods. For more information on how to get involved, community members may contact the heads of Sociedad Latinx: Grace Morocho, Kelsey Ortiz, and Andrea Cerame Mendez.
