Noah Berz '22 Performs in NEC Prep Concert and Rivers Conservatory Annual Seminar

Noah Berz '22 had a busy first weekend in April, performing in the New England Conservatory (NEC) Prep’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Concert and the 43rd Annual Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young at the Rivers Conservatory.

Noah played violin in the New England Conservatory (NEC) Prep’s Youth Philharmonic Orchestra Concert on April 1. The group performed Verdi’s La Forza del Destino Overture and Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor, “New World.”

Noah and his quartet also played in the 43rd Annual Seminar on Contemporary Music for the Young at the Rivers Conservatory on April 3. The group performed music composed by Chen Yi, whom CSW Music Department Chair Michael Weinstein describes as a “living legend.”

“The fact that she offered to write a piece for the group is fantastic,” Michael says.

The group performed the piece “Song of Spring,” which Chen composed specially for the quartet, and was even able to rehearse with Chen herself over the weekend. The group premiered the first two movements of “Song of Spring” on April 3.

Congrats to Noah and all involved!
