Jane's Pocket Change: Dodgeball Delight

During this past Friday lunchtime, CSW had a great deal of fun watching the finals of our first annual dodgeball tournament, hosted by the peer mentors. The John R.P. French Gymnasium was packed with cheering, screaming, laughing and applause as The Dodge Fathers won best of three games to receive the coveted trophy.

Who knew that dodgeball would bring several hundred of us together? (No, I did not play, but enjoyed being the manager/mascot of the Great News team and cheering them on as they lost to, none other than, the eventual champs.) The peer mentors announced upon our return from winter break that they would sponsor a series of health and fitness events to bring the community together –-including yoga, weight training, nature walks and, yes, dodgeball. What a great idea. Sam Hoenig ’15 's name would repeatedly fill our halls and email in-boxes as he brilliantly organized, managed and inspired us to participate and spectate.

What we do know is that CSW likes to have fun: crazy quiz shows at assembly, Gryphon grams and Open Mic are just a few examples. Laughing and sharing a joke, smiling and sharing a bit of joy, it is a hallmark of our spirited community.

So thanks Devon Voake and the peer mentors for bringing us some much-needed mid-winter amusement. The spirit of the past few weeks takes us into this mod break drawing deeper breaths, smiling broader smiles and, admittedly, perhaps nursing a bruise or two!
Here is a fun video of the series.
