Jane's Pocket Change: The Importance of Spring

There are reasons why we Northern Hemisphere inhabitants look forward to spring: sunnier days, easy outdoor activity, the colors of flowers, green grass, more variety in our local vegetables.

It is a time that feels lighter, more colorful and somehow things seem more possible.

As CSW students and teachers enjoy two weeks of break, here are four tongue-in-cheek quotations to remind us that there are always better times to come.

"And the spring comes slowly up this way."
-- Robert Burns

“One swallow does not make a spring, nor does one fine day.”
-- Aristotle

“Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush.”
-- Doug Larson

“No winter lasts forever; no spring skips its turn.”
-- Hal Borland

Spring begins officially on Thursday, March 20. I hope everyone gets a respite from winter’s cold and enjoys all that spring has to offer.

Meet CSW Students

CSW—a gender-inclusive day and boarding school for grades 9-12—is a national leader in progressive education. We live out our values of inquiry-based learning, student agency, and embracing diverse perspectives in every aspect of our student experience. Young people come to CSW to learn how to learn and then put what they learn into action—essential skills they carry into their futures as doers, makers, innovators, leaders, and exceptional humans who do meaningful work in the world.
