In Number One Singles, the Freshman tennis phenomena Maya Barnes '17 continued her admirable winning streak, dominating her opponent, 8-3. With blistering serves and miraculous angles on her backhands, Ms. Barnes's tenacity could not be matched. This match featured Maya's sixth consecutive victory. What a heroic effort!

In Number Two Singles, the always cool, calm, collected, and exciting to watch Sarah Bakalchuk '15 played the most thrilling, and longest match of the afternoon, winning 8-6. Despite the heat and fatigue, Sarah soldiered through with her quintessential ground strokes and aggressiveness. In the 13th game, embroiled in a 6-6 tie, and at 30-30, Sarah tracked down a nearly impossible backhand, and hitting it crosscourt, wowing all in the stands. This point gave Sarah the necessary confidence to proceed to victory.

In Number Three Singles, Zhuoran Yu '15 played on the Singles side of the Ladder for the first time this year. Zhuoran gave a very worthy effort, but came up somewhat short. Zhuoran gave a commendable effort, and continued to improve her serving and volleying.

In Number One Doubles, The outstanding team of Leila Burnham '15 and Simenesh Semine '17, known affectionately as Team Leinesh, played outstanding team tennis, punishing their opponents, 8-1. This match was never in doubt, as the Junior and Freshman, respectively, controlled the tempo at all times, and dominated the net and baseline.

In Number Two Doubles, the irrepressible Doubles Team of Julia Keating '17, and Michaela Kahn '16, known affectionately as Team JK and MK played together for the first time this season. Despite this lack of experience together, the two played as if they had been partners for ages. JK and MK both had wonderful volleys, groundstrokes, and most importantly, true grit. This wonderful effort came up somewhat short, but both players are to be commended for their efforts.
