CSW Field Hockey Records First Win of Season

The CSW Field Hockey team welcomed Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart to campus on Wednesday, September 17 for a 4:00 p.m. game.

The Gryphons fought hard throughout the game, securing a 1-0 win and recording their first win of the young season. Mabel Gantos '15 scored CSW's lone goal, with an assist from Maya Barnes '17, following a prolonged offensive rally in which several players helped set up the opportunity. Katie Gorson '16 weathered a Newton rally at the close of the game, and stopped a penalty shot as well, notching her first shutout this season in goal. All of the hard work the girls put in at practice this week paid off, as their spacing was noticeably improved. Along with a more aggressive defense at midfield, this helped pave the path to victory.
