Lifelong Learning

Learning for the Joy of it.

At CSW, we encourage learning as a lifelong pursuit. Our continuing education programs offer opportunities to expand knowledge, gain professional skills, re-awaken neglected passions, and discover new interests.

Learning for the joy of it can be just as — if not more — rewarding than studying in pursuit of a degree or certificate. Step into the classroom with a CSW faculty member. Explore your artistic potential through a variety of approaches to self-portraiture or the totalistic tendencies that have proven to be alluring alternatives to the democratic states and societies.

Totalitarianism: Past and Present

Mondays & Thursdays, April 6 – 30, 2026
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

This timely and topical course takes students on a fascinating exploration of the totalistic tendencies that have proven to be alluring alternatives to the democratic states and societies: fascism on the right and Communism on the left. We begin by examining case studies drawn from Europe and Asia between the 1920s and 1960s. We will then investigate more recent iterations of fundamentalism, including political, racial, and religious fundamentalism (1960-today). The course concludes by exploring the nature and appeal of cults.
