At The Cambridge School of Weston, our boarding program offers the perfect balance of structure, support, and independence. Set on a safe, 65-acre wooded campus just 12 miles from Boston, CSW gives students a quiet place to call home, with a vibrant city always within reach.

With 90 boarding students and 20 residential faculty, our close-knit community is built on meaningful relationships. Dorm parents know students well and guide them as they learn to manage time, navigate responsibilities, and become more self-reliant, all within a thoughtfully designed, caring environment.

Our flexible approach means students can enjoy weekends on campus with friends or spend time with family off campus when needed. Whether sharing meals, creating art, or just hanging out, life in the dorms is rich with connection and everyday joy.

  • A Family Style Program

    With four dorms and 90 boarding students, the intentional size of our residential community is aligned with the high value we place on meaningful relationships. Our dorm parents have the time and skills to build strong relationships with boarding students, allowing them to better care for and mentor them.

  • Access

    For families who don't live within a commuting distance, CSW's uniquely progressive and experiential academic program is still accessible through our boarding program! Being a boarder means they trade commuting time for extra access to campus facilities and programming, as well as a chance to live in a community where the line between "school" and "home" disappears.

  • Flexibility

    Many boarding schools limit a student's ability to leave campus—even to go home and visit family. At CSW, most students stay on campus to participate in our activities program and to spend time with friends, but we offer flexibility in meeting the individual needs of each student, whether it's for a weekend home with family or a mid-week birthday dinner off campus with friends.

  • Location, Location, Location!

    Set on 65 acres of picturesque woodlands about 12 miles outside of Boston, students enjoy the best that a world-class, dynamic city and the tranquility and safety of a suburban campus have to offer. 

  • Personal Development

    We give students a solid set of guidelines and support around how to plan outings, communicate plans, manage time, and complete schoolwork. This allows students to develop autonomy and responsibility while still in the care of adults and a structured program, all of which is excellent preparation for living at college.

Weekend Activities

The activities program at CSW is open to all students, both day and boarding, and takes full advantage of the intellectual and artistic opportunities in the nearby communities of Boston.

  • Off-Campus Excursions

    Every weekend, CSW coordinates trips to the Waltham shopping district and Harvard Square. In addition, the weekend activities coordinator, working with students, organizes off-campus activities that allow both day and boarding students to come together to enjoy excursions ranging from sports games and amusement parks to theater, music, and dance performances to apple picking and ice skating. 

  • On-Campus Programming

    CSW sponsors numerous events on campus, including band performances, dances, ice cream socials, guest performers and hypnotists, and film series. In addition, our Wilderness Program organizes four to seven trips each year during the long, module-break weekends. 
     
    Each dorm sets its own culture of social activities, which may include playing board games, watching the playoffs together, scary movie nights, holiday parties, TV marathons or dorm talent shows.
