CSW vs CATS Academy

Friday night the CSW Boys Varsity traveled to CATS academy in Newton. Any empty gym quickly flooded with students and parents to produce a loud and chaotic atmosphere. The intensity started high right from the tip off. CATS scored the first few points which only further fueled the crowd. They carved through the CSW press with ease and scored a number of fast break baskets. However, the Gryphons kept close and battled back to tie the game 25-25 at half. The second half only brought more chaos and noise to the packed gym. Both teams threw punches and went on a number of mini runs. After several lead changes, CSW found themselves down three with 22 seconds left. After the timeout, Chris Green '16 passed to Josh Hyams '19 who pulled up for a deep and contested three-pointer. Hyams shot fell through for his 11th second half point. With a tie game, a CATS academy player was fouled on the inbounds. He hit his second free throw to put CATS up by one. Green took the ball the length of the court but his left handed layup was deflected away as time expired. Green ended the game with 20 points while Hyams and Haniff Clarke '18 added 11 and 10 respectively. While the Gryphons lost the contest by a point, they played another great game of team basketball with a lot of key contributors.
