Five runners score for CSW!

Lisa Mikkelsen
I'm not going to lie, we were a little bit disappointed to finish 5th overall at yesterday's MBIL Championship meet. We have come a long way and were really hoping for a stronger meet result. However! Looking at the individual results tells another story. Our team - our student athletes - really did all they could and pushed themselves yesterday. Twenty of our student athletes ran yesterday in a field of 128 finishers, Thirteen of them improved their time over last week's meet at the same course! Ten of these times were significant and showed just how hard these kids worked. Runners who scored for CSW: Senior Captain Miles Ogden-Powers ('18) finished 2nd overall, :25 seconds faster this week than last! Evan Scully ('19) finished 20th overall and ran :41 seconds faster this week than last! Jose Melo ('19) finished 25th overall and ran :23 seconds faster this week than last! Henry Li ('21) finished 26th overall (and ran the exact same time). Senior Captain Andrew Gens ('18) rounded out the scoring for the team finishing 30th overall. Honorable Mentions: Jack Zhang ('20) finished 31st overall :04 seconds faster than last week's meet; Kelvin Duan ('21) finished 33 overall; Dmitri Kiryk ('21) finished 42nd overall (did not get a time from last week's meet); David Yu ('20) finished 43rd overall and ran 7:56 faster than last week; Fred Liu ('19) finished 47th overall; Peter Yin ('20) finished 50th overall and ran :53 seconds faster! Katie Baum ('21) finished 52nd overall, 3rd overall for girls and ran :29 seconds faster! Jamie McCreath ('21) finished 57th overall and ran :55 seconds faster! William Huang ('19) finished 66th overall and ran :40 seconds faster! Ben Duffy-Howard ('19) finished 70th overall; Bella Patel ('20) finished 79th overall, 8th overall for girls and ran 1:55 faster!!! Taisuke Sato ('19) finished 90th overall; Bob Zhang ('19) finished 96th overall and ran 1:43 faster! Patrick Bai ('21) finished 97th overall and ran 5:04 faster! Zoe Davis ('21) finished 107th and ran :12 seconds faster! One of the mantras that we say in practice has been "Last One Best One". This was the theme that we had for yesterday's meet. It is clear from these results that while we may not have placed as high as we would have liked, our runners sure did what they could to make this final meet the best one!
