The Gryphons Take Home the Trophy

On Saturday afternoon the Cambridge School of Weston Girls' Varsity basketball team won the Charger Classic Holiday Tournament, beating Boston Trinity Academy 30-26. This win brings their record to 2-1. It was a constant battle from the start of the game. Both teams were playing tough defense as the first basket wasn’t scored until a few minutes into the game. Junior Lila Blaustein took control of the game by handling the ball for the Gryphons. Dribbling around BTA’s defense and either taking the lane or finding an open teammate. The Gryphons were up at half time by only a basket (11-9). Coming out into the second half BTA hit a 3 pointer to take the lead. It was tough for the Gryphons to get the lead back but communication and determination kicked in for the team. Talking on defense and attacking the basket, got the Gryphons onto the free throw line. The team shot 60% from the free throw line, going 14-23. The Gryphons were lead by Sophomore Alaina Hauber, junior Lila Blaustein, and senior Zoe Fenn, all with 9 points each. As a team they ripped down 32 defensive rebounds. The team will travel to Brimmer and May School on Tuesday December 12th for a 4pm tip-off.
