JSA Takes Part in Annual 'Fight Apathy' Initiative
"Fight Apathy" is a national JSA (Junior State of America) initiative, where chapters work in their communities to increase political engagement and start conversations on important topics.
This year, CSW's JSA chapter voted on Global Citizenship as the theme for the Fight Apathy event, planning a week's worth of programming to involve the CSW community. Their goal is to promote an understanding of our places as individuals and as a community in the wider world, and to interact with current events from a global perspective.
In support of their efforts, other CSW clubs such as Interfaith and United Students of Color are focusing their discussions this week on the theme of Global Citizenship.
On Thursday, March 7, members of JSA led the community through a presentation on why global citizenship matters, what it looks like, and which topics community members might want to involve themselves in, providing examples such as Brexit, the current elections in Israel, and the political turmoil in Venezuela.
