Our First Day with Homestays!

Today was our first day spent completely with our homestay families, and we all had our own unique experience.

Abe and I started our day at a Panamanian restaurant for breakfast, where they cook their beef outside in the sun. We then toured a neighborhood with old traditional houses. Lastly, we drove up to Playa Blanca, which has the biggest pool in Central America.

Nia, Rose, and Iris visited two different farms, where they fed animals and rode horses, while Zavier tried slushies from a famous store people travel specifically to.

Avery, Parker, Zoe, Andrew, and Charlotte visited different beaches, one of which contained an old lighthouse. Avery was also able to watch the sunset from the beach.

Theo hiked up Canajagua Mountain, where he looked over Las Tablas, while Sofia and Lilly toured their families’ large gardens, which had cashew trees, mango trees, and many other plants and fruit.

Finally, Emma and Bee were fitted into a traditional style dress and outfit called pollera montuna santeña.
