Hola from ITEC!!

Today, we split into groups and began our research projects after doing some background

Andrew and Emma spent the day observing the behaviors of Bradypus variegatus also known as the brown-throated three-toed sloth!

Lily and Bee worked on their project, measuring distances between mangrove trees to set up sites for testing mollusk concentration and water salinity.

Nia researched fiddler crabs and their reactions to humans at starfish beach while Parker climbed mangrove trees to observe what organisms lived in the roots vs the canopy!

Zoe Owen and Charlotte studied oophaga pumilio, otherwise known as strawberry poison dart frogs! They examined the spots ok their back to understand different instances of polymorphism.

Zavier and Theo worked with Zoe, Owen, and Charlotte to measure frog jumping distance.

Iris, Abe, and Rose examined the times it took for feather dusters to reemerge after retracting.

Finally, Sofia and Avery mapped the locations of starfish at starfish beach at different times of day to examine the impact of human activity on their distribution.

After a long day we all ate a delicious dinner of chicken and vegetable soup together before winding down with cards and other games before bed.
