Fall Dramatic Production

The play’s protagonist Claire, a multimillionaire, visits her hometown after an absence of many years and offers the residents great wealth if they will kill one of their leading citizens, Alfred, who had betrayed Claire shamefully many years before. In this morality play about vengeance and greed, the audience is asked to grapple with the following:
- Can the need (or want) of money drive a community to kill one of its members?
- What past deeds can justify the need for punishment, and what should that punishment be?
- What is the difference between justice and vengeance?
- Is the suffering of one worth the betterment of many?
