LAX loses to Landmark

Paul O'Halloran
CSW played a strong Landmark team on Thursday. The Gryphons played with a great amount of intensity, continuously fighting for ground balls to maintain possession and stop Landmark in transition. This proved to be a daunting task as Landmark has excellent stick skills.

During the first half, Landmark kept the Gryphons on their heels, getting out to a 9-4 advantage half way through. CSW made a defensive adjustment by changing to zone in the middle and were able to gain some momentum. This led to a 4-0 scoring run to cut the lead to 10-8 at the half.

Alaina Hauber '20, strong off the draw by maintaining possession and forcing the attack, continuously pressured Landmark defenders and picked her spots to score, while setting up CSW in the offensive zone.

Hannah Hewett 19' scored 4 goals for the game and was a force attacking ground balls.

Jesse Lewis 19' was tenacious in her ability to disrupt Landmark defensively, while setting some good screens to spring the Gryphons for scoring opportunities.

CSW battled to the end coming up short 17-13, but the effort while playing shorthanded was great to see and will help them as the season goes along.
