Student Play Selected for National Young Playwrights Festival

Monsters, an original play written by Katie ’26, has been selected as one of 12 winning submissions in the Blank’s Young Playwrights Festival. The selection came from a pool of more than 500 entries nationwide.
As part of the honor, Monsters will receive a full professional production in Los Angeles, where it will be performed over the course of four nights. The festival will also fly Katie out to attend the production in person.

Katie wrote the play in “Writing Plays for Production” with Emily Ranii in Mod 4. If it weren’t for the class, Katie says she never would have written the play and gotten her work out there, and she credits Emily, and the class, for helping her to discover her love for playwriting.
