What Sets Us Apart

Our comprehensive program offers more than we could ever fit into one page, but a few key elements make us stand out. 

The Module System

Because exploring what interests you fuels a love of learning.
By taking just three, 90-minute classes at a time, students can engage thoughtfully and delve more deeply in each class without the rush of back-to-back periods. And our unique 6x6 framework allows students to explore over 18 courses a year, encouraging them to take risks, try new things, and discover new interests. Balanced with fundamental skill building and core content requirements, this flexible schedule — created in collaboration with each student — gives students ownership over their learning, fostering unparalleled motivation and excitement.

Interdisciplinary Learning

Because nothing important fits into a single category. 
While our expert teachers are grounded in academic departments, CSW’s approach is fundamentally interdisciplinary, from classes team-taught by faculty from different departments, to "focus fusion" course series that approach similar topics through multiple lenses. Our inquiry and discussion based classes push students to consider broad questions from multiple perspectives, mirroring the way knowledge works in the real world.

The Social Justice Requirement

Because real progress demands compassion, insight, and understanding.
We're proud to be the first independent school in the country to include a Social Justice Requirement among our graduation requirements. Students choose from a list of over 80 approved courses that examine structures of power and privilege; historical and contemporary issues from the perspectives of non-Western cultures and/or historically oppressed groups; and models of social change with the goal of advancing human rights and equity.

Whether it’s in building your own schedule, interviewing prospective faculty on the curriculum committee, shaping school policy on the board of trustees, or expressing yourself through art or in-class debate, we care about who you are and what you have to say.
