Spring Wilderness Trip Goes Kayaking in Maine

The Spring Wilderness Trip took students sea kayaking and camping in the Casco Bay region off the coast of Freeport, Maine. The trip began at Winslow Park, where students learned the basics of sea kayaking and camping and got fitted for wetsuits. The two groups then paddled to Lane’s Island, where they set up camp and enjoyed a warm bonfire with s’mores.

The following morning brought rain and choppy waters, but students paddled on fearlessly and were rewarded with the sight of curious seals popping their heads above the water. Sunday morning’s paddle proved to be a challenging workout, with strong winds and an outgoing tide, but students arrived back at shore feeling accomplished. Overall, the trip was a great success, and we hope to see students join us for future adventures!
