One Year Boarding School Program

Designed for students looking for a year or semester of study at an East Coast boarding school.



Located 15 minutes from Boston and Cambridge, Massachusetts

Spend a year or a semester living and learning right near Boston and Cambridge on a safe 65-acre campus in Weston, Massachusetts. Visit renowned museums, historical sites, and must-see New England attractions while studying  English language and literature, discussing international relations, mastering robotics, exploring our music-making, sustainable fashion, and performing arts programs. Earn a certificate of completion after a final showcase.

Your first days here

To support your adjustment to a CSW, all domestic and international students take part in an orientation program prior to the start of classes. This orientation allows students to settle into their new community, get to know their dorm parents, and bond with dorm mates and student dorm leaders.

Our programs provide many opportunities in and out of the classroom for students to share and celebrate their heritage, traditions, language, and culture while at the same time being immersed in our diverse and inclusive culture at The Cambridge School of Weston.

Sample Academic Schedule

    • The CSW calendar year is divided into six, six-week modules in a framework we know as the Mod System. During each mod, students take three blocks of academic classes that meet every day for 90 minutes.



Beyond the Classroom


The activities program at CSW is open to all students, both day and boarding, and takes full advantage of the intellectual, artistic, and cultural opportunities in the nearby communities of Greater Boston. Students regularly come together to enjoy excursions including professional sporting events, amusement parks, performing arts shows, museums, and other local attractions. In addition, transportation is regularly provided to local grocery stores and area shopping centers for students living on campus.

  • Can students apply as day students? Does CSW arrange homestays?

    We believe our students experience more of the depth of our program and the richness of our community when they are part of our residential program. Therefore, we do not arrange homestays, and it is our preference that students apply as boarding students. We can consider a limited number of applications from students who want to apply as day students if—and only if—the student would live with one or both parents in the area while they attend CSW.

  • Can I qualify for financial aid or scholarships?

    Yes. We offer limited need-based aid for families who qualify. If you are considering applying for financial aid, please email ptorres@csw.org for more information.

  • What standardized tests are required?

    All international students who do not speak English as their native language must take the TOEFL (use school code 9641), the IELTS, or the Duolingo English test, during the year they are applying.
     
    CSW does not require an entrance exam such as the SSAT/ISEE. If you take one of these tests and would like to submit your scores as part of your application, you may do so, but not submitting them will not have a negative impact on your chances for admission. If you choose to submit scores, they should be sent to CSW directly. CSW’s test code for the SSAT is 2020; for the ISEE it is 222350. Scores from a PSAT, SAT, or ACT exam should be sent to us directly from your current school. Scores should be received by our office as soon as possible if you'd like them considered as part of your application.

  • Can students interview at CSW?

    All applicants are required to interview as part of the application process. Interviews are offered both in person and virtually.

  • Does CSW issue I-20 forms to international students? Are international students authorized to attend CSW?

    CSW is authorized by the U.S. government to issue I-20 Forms to international students who need to apply for an F-1 student visa to enter the US for their studies.
