In "Advanced Writing Workshop," students study the impact of audience, motive, and method on one’s writing and writing experience, exploring the differences between writing for yourself, for your peers, and for publication.
Rosanna Salcedo, CSW Dean of Equity and Inclusion has published a piece in the Center for Spiritual and Ethical Education's Connections Quarterly summer issue on the topic of belonging. In her article, Rosanna explores the challenges students from lower income families face as members of highly affluent independent school communities, and the ways in which schools can help to mitigate these challenges.
Senior Emily Li's wearable art piece "Older Motions,” has earned a spot in the Junk Kouture 2023 World Final! Emily is one of 10 New York City regional finalists and 60 total finalists from around the world. Emily and Visual Arts Faculty Alison will be flying out to London in October for the live event at OVO Arena Wembley. The winner of the competition will receive a prize of $10,000 and the opportunity to showcase their design at a major fashion event.
CSW was privileged to host a series of presentations on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book Chasing Me to My Grave: An Artists Memoir of the Jim Crow South. The book chronicles the life and work of Winfred Rembert (1945-2021), an artist from Cuthbert, Georgia.
Seven-at-Eleven, an original play by Makena Tingle ’24, was recently selected for the Boston Theater Marathon (BTM), an award-winning, all-day marathon of 10-minute plays.
The student-run and CSW-led Zora Foundation opened its Apricity: Breaking the Glass art exhibition this weekend at Artists for Humanity EpiCenter in Boston. Apricity is a social justice art exhibition that addresses social discriminatory issues, including those of race, gender, sexuality, disability, and income.
