Uruk Hai Wins Andover Invite and Coveted Spirit Award

Andover Invite:

On a very hot Saturday, the CSW Uruk Hai competed in a long and grueling Andover Invite. The team played 6 long and exhausting games in throughout the day. The team started very strong with wins over Andover, Falmouth, and Harvard. In our 4th game against Acton Boxboro, our low numbers due to injuries throughout the day showed and we were unable to convert on many chances due to fatigue. This resulted in a close loss to a very good Acton Boxboro team. Our 5th game was a highly anticipated matchup against a very talented Arlington team. Both teams started strong in the game, but the Uruk Hai were able to take the first half 6-3. Arlington made some adjustments at the half and clawed back into the game. The teams kept trading points which ultimately led to universe point where CSW was able to convert on some miscues and win the game 10-9! The final game of the day was against Lexington JV which has always had a very strong program. If CSW won this game, it would seal the tournament championship! The exhaustion showed on both teams, but the Uruk Hai were able to keep their high energy from the sidelines and win the game and the tournament. Alex Kluchman and freshman Sam Shaw both received the team’s offensive MVP award and Aidan Fitzgerald won the defensive MVP for laying his body on the line constantly to create huge plays for the team. Reed Mcintosh, despite being injured and unable to play, was awarded the team’s spirit MVP for still showing up and cheering the team on all day. At the end of the day, the CSW Uruk Hai went home with a  5-1 record, the championship trophy, and the tournament spirit award. A very successful day.
