New XC Course at Gann a Hit!

Lisa Mikkelsen
Our second meet was on Thursday, September 20th at Gann Academy. Last minute restrictions on the use of part of their original course resulted in a new 3.13 mile course. The new layout was much more spectator friendly, allowing us to see the team more often. As always, thanks to all the families and friends who were out there to help support and cheer for our runners.

Our girls team was led by Katie Baum (’21) and Zoe Davis (’21) both improving their Gann times over last year by a large margin (Katie by over 2 minutes and Zoe by over 5 minutes!) Teams must have at least 5 runners finishing the race to have a team score so CSW girls’ team was not able to score at this meet. Of the 9 schools with girls running, only 4 teams had 5 or more runners.

Our boys’ team finished a strong 3rd place out of the 8 schools competing. Again there were plenty of personal bests set at this course last week: Patrick Bai (’21) bettered his time by over 3 minutes. Peter Yin (’20), Dmitri Kiryk (’21), Jack Zhang (’20) and Kelvin Duan (’21) all bettered their times by over 2 minutes and José Melo (’19) bettered his time by over 1 minute.

Ben Duffy-Howard (’19) once again led our boys team with Jose Melo (’19), Dmitri Kiryk (’21), Surya Rijamani (’22) and Matthew Ramirez (’19) scoring for CSW.
