CSW Fell To Experienced BU Academy 0-5

CSW boys played and lost against BU academy. They did their best but it wasn't enough but was worth a preview of what is needed to improve for next year.

#1 Our co-captain and Senior Eli headlined the duel playing BU Academy number #1, who was technically skilled with consistent groundstrokes with good movement and court coverage. The match had some good rallies, with Eli bringing out his best backhand this season, The opponent had a strong forehand and forced Eli to play his forehand. The opponent was leading 0-4 before Eli retired from the match due to injury. Eli has shown his potential and technical qualities over the season and progressing steadily to become a better player. Good fight Eli!

Global Score 0-1

#2 Freshman Jared Newman played against a tall player who covered the court well and especially at the net. Jared brought his game as well and stayed with the opponent only to lose one service game to end 6-8. The two were very even, challenging from the back and at the net, both did well. Jared fell slightly short but an excellent result for someone who had to play a senior and taller opponent. Lots of room to become an even better player next season. WTG Jared!

Global Score 0-2

#3 Freshman Noah Weinberg, got his first win playing singles match the first time last Friday against Boston Trinity and was up to the challenge for the match. Noah started a bit nervous to an opponent who had found Noah's inexperience and exploited it, Noah covered the court well but the opponent knew how to place the balls just as well, along with his fast serves and attacked Noah's serves that gave him many free points. The match ended at 3-8. Calm and calculating throughout the match, Noah tried his to best execute but it was not enough. It was a good test to get experience and work on technical weaknesses to prepare for next season. Excellent effort Noah!

#1 Senior Eric Wang & Junior Tetsuya Tanaka playing together again for the second time, they faced a skilled duo on the other side of the net.  The opponents were well organized, communicating constantly throughout the contest to covering the court well. Eric and Tetsuya are seen to be slightly tense and intimidated in this match but
Tetsuya brought his first serves and skilled ball placements to  long rallies at times.CSW team fell 3-8.

#2 Junior James Foleno & Freshman Harvey Li had some good rallies and points but fell short to best their opponents, who decent first serves and good groundstrokes. One of them was a left-hander so they covered the ad court so they covered it well. The level of play from both teams seem even, the opponent had an advantage of knowing how wait for errors and hitting to the man in the back. In the end, CSW finished 3-8. Both fought with heart and soul, so much so, James even dived for a ball. Great match guys!

Overall, this was probably the most difficult match of the season. Each ofthe BU Academy players had varied technical skills who knew how and when to use it in exploiting our players' weaknesses and inexperience. This duel will give us the guidelines where to focus on areas we need to improve and to what level we need to raise our game to get to their level. But this team can and will bring it next season. They have surprised us many times this season when they brought themselves from a losing season last year to a winning conference season this year.
