Weir Farm Welcomes Todd Bartel as Artist-in-Residence

Visual Art Teacher Todd Bartel is the July artist in residence at Weir Farm in Connecticut. Weir Farm boasts 60 acres of woods, fields, and waterways, and is the former home and studio of American  Impressionist, J. Alden Weir.

Todd's work assumes the forms of painting, drawing, and sculpture in a collage and assemblage format. His work investigates the interconnected histories of collage and landscape and the roles of nature and natural resources in Western culture. "My research-based studio practice questions the ways in which natural resources are consumed and how the surface of the planet is maintained," he says. "I am driven to find and celebrate examples of human insight, sublimity, poeticism, morality, and spirit."

Todd will be hosting open studio hours on Saturday, July 22, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All are welcome.
