In what was certainly one of the most exciting afternoons of CSW athletics in quite some time, both the Girls’ and Boys’ Varsity Soccer teams won their semifinals matches in dramatic fashion in front of a roaring crowd of CSW fans!

The Boys’ Varsity Soccer team faced off against a tough Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall squad in their semifinals match. With a 1-1 record against CHCH in the regular season, the Gryphons knew they had to come out with a lot of energy and desire. They did not disappoint. The game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation and both extra time periods, forcing the match into a Penalty Kick shoot-out in which CSW came out on top of after a few timely saves and great shots!

Meanwhile, the Girls’ Varsity Soccer team was taking on a spirited Brimmer and May team just a few yards away on CSW’s other home field. The Gryphons were 1-0-1 against Brimmer during the regular season. This match came down to the wire as well, with the score tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time and both extra times. The Girls’ team prevailed in their Penalty Kick shoot-out as well, assisted by some amazing stops by their goalkeeper and some incredible goals.

The games ended within thirty seconds of each other as CSW students, faculty members, and parents were running between fields to catch every exciting and nail-biting shot.

One highlight to mention is Boys’ Varsity Soccer Co-captain Noah Rossen’s 14’ amazing feat! Noah scored his 30th goal of the season in the semifinal match. Down 1-0 in the game, Noah scored on a break away to tie the match. Noah is now the leading goal scorer for a season in CSW history! (It might be noted that goal stats were not an official stat until a few years ago, but numerous ex-coaches and former players have substantiated it). Great work Noah! Another piece of impressive athletics news to note: the CSW Cross Country team placed 2nd in their Championship Meet at Gann Academy yesterday afternoon! With more than eight schools competing, this is a miraculous accomplishment and a great way to end an extraordinary season.

Both Soccer teams travel to Waring School in Beverly, MA on Friday, November 1st to compete in the MBIL and IGC Championship games, starting at 3:30 p.m.
