Boys' JV Soccer Defeat Concord Academy

The Gryphons were successful in holding Concord Academy to secure the victory in a sensational 2 to 1 win.
CSW defeated Concord Academy in a sensational 2 to 1 win. Despite the rainy weather, both teams were ready to battle. Theo Smith '19 finally broke Concord’s pressure as he tactfully moved the ball past their defender and fired a shot on goal. The keeper saved the initial attempt, but Matt Bird '17cleaned up the rebound to earn the first goal of the match. Concord Academy responded 10 minutes later to tie the game. The ball trickled through the Gryphons’ defense to the far post and an opposing player placed it in the net. Before the first half ended, the Gryphons had two amazing free kick opportunities just outside the 18 yard box. The first kick grazed the crossbar as it just went over the goal. However, Dakota Handly ’19 made the second opportunity count as he bent the ball around Concord’s wall of players to put CSW up 2 to 1. The second half was a chest match back and forth as each team responded defensively to the opposing team’s attack. The Gryphons were successful in holding Concord Academy to secure the victory.
