CSW senior Ilyan Lin will be co-hosting YW Boston’s Academy of Women Achievers Luncheon alongside NBC 10 Boston anchor Latoya Edwards on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. Ilyan is a recent graduate of InIt, a youth leadership initiative that provides high school students with social justice education and training outside of the classroom, and supports their growth into socially responsible youth leaders. Ilyan graduated from the 10-month program in May.

“I think the biggest thing that impacted me in InIt was my own personal growth as seeing myself as a person in the world who both contributes to and is affected by systems of oppression,” Ilyan shared in an interview with YW Boston. “Knowing where my privileges are, and knowing where I don't have privileges, is a big part of being a leader because you have to have a sense of yourself before you can lead others.”

Leaders being honored at this year’s luncheon are Vanessa Calderón-Rosado, Ph.D, Chief Executive Officer – Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción; Kip Hollister, Founder & CEO Hollister Staffing & Hollister Institute; Wanda McClain, Vice President of Community Health and Health Equity at Brigham and Women’s Hospital; and Jeannette M. Mills, Senior Vice President of Safety, Health and Environmental at National Grid.

Anita Hill will also be on hand to present the inaugural Sylvia Ferrell-Jones Award to Nai Collymore-Henry, Vice President of Partnerships at The Alliance for Business Leadership. The award is named in honor of Sylvia Ferrell-Jones, who for ten year’s led YW Boston in their mission to eliminate racism and empower women.

CSW congratulates Ilyan on the exciting honor!
