The Math Department welcomes Rashid Chatani, who has been working as a research assistant in the Arroyo Learning Sciences Research Lab (Worcester) while earning an M.S. in learning sciences and technologies from the Worcester Polytechnic Institute; Rashid also earned his B.S. in biochemistry from WPI. Previously, Rashid was a University Innovation Fellow at Stanford University. Rashid will also join the residential life program as a dorm parent.
Francie Jarowski joins the language department as a part-time French teacher. Francie has 17 years’ experience as a teacher and an administrator, most recently teaching French to middle and high school students in Lee, Massachusetts. Francie previously worked at Miss Hall’s School (Pittsfield, MA), the Park School (Baltimore, MD) and Bryn Mawr School (MD). Francie’s B.A. in Francophone studies is from Mount Holyoke; she earned a M.A.T. in French from Boston
University.
Robert Kwalick will serve as interim director of the theatre program. Robert comes to CSW with a host of experience as both a teacher and a technical director from a range of institutions including, most recently, the Thomaston Opera House, the Forman School and the Taft School (all in Connecticut). Robert graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Monmouth College and has an M.F.A. in acting from Northern Illinois University/DeKalb.
Progressive Education Lab (PEL) fellow Sarah Nelson will be spending her second-year PEL fellow assignment at CSW. Sarah will be teaching within the English, science and skills departments and assisting with the writing lab program. She also will be a dorm parent and an assistant coach for cross country and ultimate. Sarah is a graduate of Pitzer College with a B.A. human biology.
Omar Ruiz joins his wife, CSW’s health educator and 9th grade counselor Bernice Ruiz, in the
residential life community as a dorm parent. Omar has just become a middle school counselor at the Boston Collegiate Charter School. Most recently, Omar was a counseling coordinator at Margarita Muniz Academy (Jamaica Plain) and has operated a private therapy practice. Omar is a graduate of Howard University with a B.S. in Psychology; he received his M.S. in Science in family therapy from the University of Massachusetts.
Colin Wilson'08 wll be this year's theatre fellow. Colin has vast experience teaching, directing, acting, and writing for the theatre. He has most recently worn a number of hats at Redhouse Arts Center in Syracuse, serving as curriculum associate, building lead, summer school theater director, and teaching fellow, among other roles. Colin has also worked at Adirondack Lake Camp, the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center, Drake Planetarium, and Indian Hill Music School. Colin has a B.A. in Theater and Education from Manhattanville College.
New Staff
Andrea Finnerty is CSW’s new Chief Development Officer. With over 20 years of professional experience, Andrea was most recently Executive Director for the National Kidney Foundation for the New England region. Previously, she worked at Helping Hands in Boston and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation in Ohio. Andrea is currently serving as President of the Board for Greater Boston’s Women in Development. Andrea holds a B.S. in business with a major in marketing and a minor in international business from Miami University (Oxford, OH).
Anne-Catherine Higham joins the Admissions Office as assistant director of admissions and international admissions coordinator. Anne-Catherine has a wealth of experience in international education and recruitment, strategic planning and data analysis, and large-scale project and program management. A native of Canada, she has lived and worked in China, France, and Japan. Anne-Catherine has a master's degree in international relations from McGill University and a B.A. in history from the University of Ottawa.
Russ Jarowski has joined CSW in the new role of Director of Strategic Technology. Russ most recently provided technical support and taught at the Berkshire Art and Technology School Charter School in Adams, Massachusetts, as well as within the middle and high schools in Lee, Massachusetts. Prior to this, Russ was Director of Technology at Miss Hall’s School (Pittsfield, MA). Russ holds two degrees from the University of Maryland/Baltimore, an M.S. in human- centered computing and a B.S. in information systems.
The Admissions Office has welcomed Susan Mosher as our new Admissions Coordinator. Susan comes to CSW from the Dover Sherborn Middle School, where she was an administrative assistant in the guidance department. Previous experience has been in office administration and insurance claims procedures. Susan received her B.S. in economics from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst.
Some of you may remember Jacob Sagrans ’05, who returns to the CSW campus this year as an assistant in the library and the academic office. Jacob has been working as a music instructor and as a researcher/writer/editor for various publications and projects involving music. He is currently a board member for Coro Allegro in Boston. Jacob has a Ph.D in musicology from McGill University and a B.A. in music from Grinnell College.
