Art Teacher Alison Safford Takes Her Art Overseas
This summer, Art Teacher Alison Safford returned to Slovakia for the exhibition of A / Musing the Muse Be / Musing the Muse.
It has been six years since art teacher Alison Safford showcased her art in Samorin, Slovakia. This summer, she returned to Slovakia for the exhibition of her installation called A / Musing the Muse Be / Musing the Muse. Alison created this installation specifically for the At Home Gallery exhibition space, located inside the Samorin Synagogue.
For this project, Alison created a miniature 3D print sculpture of the P-67 comet, Čurjumov-Gerasimenko. She placed it above a temporary bed with pillow speakers that played the sounds of the Rosetta explorer spacecraft, which the European Space Agency landed on the surface of the the P-67 comet in 2014
When asked about her experience with this installation, Alison says, “It went really well. I met some wonderful artists from the area, many working internationally. Curators came from both Bratislava, and the Kampa Museum in Prague. School children, artists and gallery goers, and tour buses came from the area, but also Hungary, Germany, Austria, and Romania.”
Alison says viewers were very engaging and really spent time lying on the matts, viewing the rotating comets, and the comet video projection, while listening to the sound of p67.

CSW Robotics Has Best Season on Record

At its first competition in Revere, MA, the team finished qualification matches in 10th place out of 38 teams, earning them the privilege of being an alliance captain for the first time ever. They would go on to place 4th overall, solidifying a spot in the next round of competition in New Hampshire. Here, the team finished 27th out of 40 teams. These results are the best the team has seen in the history of the program.
