Boys' JV Soccer Earns First Win of Season vs. CHCH

CSW secured their first victory of the season on Tuesday afternoon, in an electrifying 8 to 0 win over Chapel Hill-Chauncy Hall.

Six different Gryphons tallied goals for the team including Dakota Handly ’19, Matt Bird '17, Johan Scharmer '19, Yuyang Qiu '18, Mason Liu '16, and Garrett Stokes '16. The start of the match was fairly even, with both goal keepers feeling the offensive pressure. Halfway through the 1st half, Dakota Handly ’19 stole the ball from a CHCH defender player and fired the ball into the back of the net.

The next goal came a few minutes later off a brilliant cross by Dakota Handly ’19 with a first time finish by Matt Bird ’17. CSW’s attack proved to be too much for CHCH to handle and the Gryphons were able to capitalize on most of their chances, followed up by stellar defending in the back. In addition, keeper Jared Liebscher '16 earned the first shutout of the season for the Gryphons.

CSW hopes to carry this momentum in their upcoming match against their fierce competitors Brimmer & May.
