Girls' JV Soccer Takes on Waring

The Girls' JV Soccer team played a competitive match at Waring School on Tuesday, September 29.

Cambridge came ready to run, brining only one sub to the game. The CSW team worked together and played with heart. Contributing to the Gryphons' hustle were Lily Wllheim-Martinez '18, Julia Bingel '19, and Kaylee Law '19. The teams were evenly matched, and the score was 0-0 at the half.


With few shots on goal in the first half, CSW came out in the second half looking for scoring opportunities. The players worked together to bring the ball up the field several times, only to have the Waring keeper stop the shots. Finally, Ellie Bresnahan '19 and Emi Ibarra Sanchez '19 worked together to take repeated shots on a loose ball in front of Waring's goal. Waring's keeper persisted, and so did Bresnahan and Ibarra Sanchez. After several exciting moments, Ellie assisted Emi in scoring her first goal of the season. 

The Gryphons continued the bring their teamwork, and held off Waring's attacks for a 1-0 victory. Playing in goal, Maggie Ojemann '17 logged the shut-out for Cambridge.
