Michael H. Feldman '67 Social Justice Day
Michael H. Feldman '67 Social Justice Day at CSW serves as a permanent memorial to a young, socially conscious, highly motivated and engaging CSW alumnus. The program focuses on specific and relevant social justice topics.
Past topics have included wrongful convictions and the criminal justice system, international trade, law and the environment, immigration, rights of women, rights of children, rights of the disabled, privatization of water, a model United Nations Congress, a mock political convention and many other outstanding learning experiences.
It’s been 40 years since Michael Feldman, CSW class of 1967, died suddenly at age 25. Michael had planned to use his legal training representing individuals who could not afford their own legal defense in the NYS Public Defenders Association Office.
The Feldman family created the Michael H. Feldman Trust in Michael’s memory to distribute monies for the purpose of permanently funding the Advocacy Award in Michael’s name at Georgetown University, establishing a Tucker Fellowship stipend for a deserving student at Dartmouth University, and endowing Law Day (now Social Justice Day) at The Cambridge School of Weston.
The Cambridge School of Weston is a progressive high school for day and boarding students in grades 9–12 and PG. CSW's mission is to provide a progressive education that emphasizes deep learning, meaningful relationships, and a dynamic program that inspires students to discover who they are and what their contribution is to their school, their community and the world.
