Qai Hinds '23 to Speak on Jane Doe Inc. Panel

On Friday, December 17, Jane Doe Inc. will hold a panel called "Reimagine Manhood Symposium: Dismantling Systemic Patriarchy and The School-to-Prison Pipeline." Qai Hinds '23 will be a speaker on this panel between 10:10 a.m. – 10:55 a.m., discussing her experience as a BIPOC young woman, who is still engaged with the school system, as well as the story of a young man who has experienced the school to prison pipeline. She will also be discussing ways to improve the system.
For the past month, Qai has been working with Jane Doe Inc., an organization that works to amplify the voices of all who are impacted by sexual and domestic violence and to undo the social injustices that perpetuate an abuse of power. The work of JDI is important to her because she is directly affected. "Fortunately, I have not experienced the prison pipeline but I am regularly affected by the school system, especially as a young black, first-generation woman. This is important to me because I hope that my truth inspires and encourages other girls and boys to share their truths too. And I hope that sooner rather than later, the changes needed to be made will be made," says Qai.

Register here and tune in to the panel.
