Boys Tennis Loss to CHCH in Season Conference Opener



In the opening season conference tie with three courts in sunny but windy conditions away at Chapel Hall Chauncy conference match. The match began with the 3 singles followed by 2 doubles. The tie ended 1-4 loss to CHCH.


#1 Jared Newman, returning sophomore and captain, lost 4-8 to a very experienced senior CH player with excellent and reliable fast serves and topspin forehands. Jared stayed closed to the match at 3-4 but experience and age came on top/.

#2 Senior Tetsuya Tenaka, lost 2-8 with a strong consistent players. The windy conditions didn't help the match. Both players were evenly matches, neither had an upper hand. Tetsuya did not find his backhand with the windy conditions caused more errors than normal.

#3 Noah Weinberg, returning sophomore won his match 8-4 with superb footwork in court coverage and defensive skills with long rallies to outlast his opponent.

Doubles

#1 doubles team is returning Sophomore Pharrell Chen and first year Sophomore Tristan Zhang, lost 4-8, trailing the entire time. It was the two players second time player together, still trying to jell to find understanding. Both teams are evenly skilled but CHCH doubles team worked well together and played a better match.

#2 Playing the second team are Freshmen Oliver Robertson and Julien Roberson, lost a tight match, 7-8, tiebreak 6-8. It was even throughout the match. Both played well with good defensive and offensive skills with good rallies.
