CSW Boys Tennis Falls Short To Brimmer

Having been trained in more than a week, our boys were  back in action last Friday. They put up a good fight and came close with a win. After 1.5 hours of matches, the Brimmer team edged us by a small margin to take the win.

CSW 0 - 1
Sophomore Pharrell, playing the #1 singles, faced a young but very experienced Brimmer #1, who was very consistent technically in every aspect of the game. Pharrell has big serves but inconsistent ground strokes kept the opponent ahead throughout the match. Falling 1-8.

CSW 0-2
First time playing together, Senior Tetsuya and Freshman Oliver who played the doubles #1 team played an inconsistent match, committing double faults that ended up losing their service games that eventually led them to fall behind the opponent, eventually losing 3-8.

CSW 0-3

Sophomore Noah, our #3 singles, also had a difficult match with a technically skilled and speedy opponent. Noah, known for his excellent court coverage and ability to make his opponent take another shot, came short to his opponent, who managed the tempo and command of the match throughout , mixing up this strokes to destabilize Noah, ending a 4-8 loss.

CSW 1-3

Sophomore and captain Jared playing the #2 singles, had the longest match of the tie, lasting more than an hour in a very even match with his opponent, who had good ground strokes, forehand and backhand, and excellent court coverage and the ability to return many shots. Jared used a variety of shot making, ground strokes mixing with slices from on both forehand and backhand, at the net and at the back, to keep the opponent off balance, moving him all over the court, to edge him 8-6.

CSW 2-3

Freshman Julien and Sophomore Tristan, playing together for the first time this season, won 8-2, in #2 doubles match. They played well together, communicating well to outlast their doubles opponents.

Final score: 2-3
